The Nova is no mere integrated. It includes a converter which most
competitors don't. To test the secret weapon, I switched to one of its
digital inputs and let the Logitech Transporter supply the ones and
zeros. While nothing in the previous paragraph turned sudden lie, sonic
changes immediately manifested as deeper colors. Bass and treble gained
presence, staging moved forward and also expanded laterally. Now there
was more life in the music. -6moons.com http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/peachtree3/nova.html
Consider this: the Nova can go toe-to-toe with the Benchmark on sonic
grounds, offers more flexible inputs (3 analog and 5 digital for the
Nova vs. the 1 analog and 5 digital for the Benchmark), comes with a
remote control, and serves not only as a
DAC/preamp/headphone amp but also as a full-on hybrid integrated
amplifier—all for about $395 less than the price of the Benchmark. -AVguide.com http://www.avguide.com/blog/first-look-peachtree-audio-nova-hybrid-integrated-ampusb-dac
Whether
you are an audiophile on a budget, need a great second system or are sending
your kids off to college; anywhere you need high performance audio without a
stack of components, the NOVA is the best suggestion I can make. I’ve never
used the word best in TONEAudio’s history, but this is the best budget HiFi
component I’ve ever had the pleasure of using.
The Peachtree Audio Nova is a ton of fun and has a bright future as everyman's high end integrated
amplifier, DAC, or preamp. Hence the title of this review, Champagne Supernova. Champagne always
involves fun and Supernovae are incredibly luminous. Champagne Supernova is also a reference to the
Oasis song of the same name. A seven minute anthem that hit number one on the modern rock charts in
the U.S. and has been played at every Oasis concert since it was written. The song has been spinning my
NAS hard drives quite a bit lately. Sure the Peachtree integrated amp is called the Nova, but the musicality, enjoyment, and versatility of this piece may
warrant the name Supernova.
The Nova has enough connectivity to handle a wide variety of digital and analog sources. It will work great as a traditional analog integrated amplifier, but with such a glorious DAC section, it would be a crime not to take advantage of its processing power, with which any computer-based music server can be turned into a hi-fi source. You can even use a Sony PlayStation 3’s optical output and transform the PS3’s sound into real hi-fi. The possibilities are almost endless. - soundstage.com
