This is cause for both consternation and optimism; consternation that
many customers will spend the same or more on mass-market dreck, and
optimism that sound this good can be had for so little money.
After
almost two years in development, the new era towers are now shipping.
Each have their own purpose and application to meet individual
placement needs. Special attention was paid to the crossovers and build
quality and they are more efficient than previous models as well. Both
are available in real Cherry and Rosewood veneers and are designed to
look as good as they sound. With our proprietary drivers , the dense
well-braced cabinets, and the (over the top) high-end X-Overs , we’re
offering the best European style and performance speakers at less than
half the price of our competition. OK…OK…so we’ve always offered that,
but with the D10 and the D14 we make that statement even bolder.
The D10 is a 2 ½ way design utilizing
air core inductors and Sonicaps in the X-Over. It’s mid and high frequency
response will surpass the performance of the D5’s as a result. And of course
with the added volume the bass response will also be much deeper than the D5. It
is 34” tall, 11” Deep, and 7” wide with a beautiful taper that really looks
elegant. We port it out the front, so you can get it very close to a wall if you
choose. The D10 is an 8 ohm speaker that is very easy to drive at 87.5db
efficiency. The cabinets are made from 1” MDF and internal bracing is extensive
(they weigh about 48 lbs each) and 8mm spikes are provided. $1700 / pr retail in
Cherry or Rosewood .
For
theater applications, we recommend the D5LCR center channel as it matches the
top two drivers in the D10.
